This morning I added 3 Belle and Sebastian albums to my collection. I never really listened to the much before this morning. I wanted something soft and somewhat meloncholy to go with the grogginess of the morning. It fits that feeling quite well. Somewhat cheezy but good to wake up to.
Today I start the rest of my life. I've finally gotten to the point where slacking no longer feels good. I'm wasting away while everyone around me is advancing and it feels nothing short of pathetic. Today I start the paces that will let me be part of the human world. Productive and happy.

I've been thinking about the actf of downloading music vs paying for it. I've been thinking that I
much prefer downloading it then paying any sort of monetary value for it. The simple fact that if
a song or album pops in my head I can usually find it within a matter of minutes and be listening to
still in a small way astounds me although I do it daily. Last friday I spent my evening stoned looking for new music. I happened upon the soundtrack for Bully, the new Rockstar game. It has a great mixture of naughty and sweet undertones with it's wild sounding but very carefully placed rythem guitar sequences placed next to it's very rythmic style. It captures the best and the worst of middle school quite well. It helped me get back into the habit of listening to an album straight
after it's downloaded. For a while I was just snagging music to snag it, not to actually listen to
atleast not right away. It's a very relaxing thing for me to do. Find a new album or artist that
clicks just right in my head and let it play as a scour the groups for more listening plesures.
I guess the main reason that I prefer downloading anything vs paying for it is that in the end I'm nothing more than a cheap bastard that sees something for free and just doesn't see the logic in paying for it. We're living in an amazing era of information right now. Quite Literally anything that you could ever possibly want as far as media goes is instantly available to us with a fewl clicks of a button. I love the ability one has now a days when giving a computer to be able to archive as much information as one's hard drive can possible hold. Thanx to this nostalgia has made a major comeback as far as a creative backdrop for a lot of modern music and art. Thanx to the fact the modern world moves so quickly the human mind has been forced to adapt and evolve to be able to cope with rush of data forced into it by the modern world. This in part changes the way an artist or
musician thinks about and creates his medium. As humans we can now quicly connect references to one another from things as simple as a sound effect or a certain color pixel on a black background. People have suddenly been given the freedom thanx to digital art to be able to create anything that they see in there own eyes and display it for the rest of the world. They can take images that have completely different meanings to the majority of the population and string them together to spark a new idea or thought which in the end is the whole purpose of creating art, isn't it? I could take an old advertisement for something as simple as the original Sony Walkman, cut out the tape player, move it into the hands of a Grateful Dead dancing bear, put the bear on a Carnival cruise ship drinking a martini and call it an example of the self loving hippy movement showing it's true colors. The question still arises is it art. The answer is debatable depending on ones own experiences with creating and viewing art. In the end, to me anyways, any new idea that sparks even more new thoughts and ideas should be considered art. It shouldn't matter how one was able to get there end result, what should matter is the end result. I guess I got a little off track here. Back to nostalgia coming back in art. I think this is due to the fact that people can grab images from anywhere now a days and put them in there own work. Nostalgia is medium that generally sparks a happy thought in people. As humans we generally like making others happy. Putting certain colors or objects or using a distinct style in a piece of artwork can often bring back memories of ones past that help spark new ideas and ways of using the objects
from these memories. A good example of this is modern day pixel art. Art where one creates images by breaking the image down into a tiny grid and carfully selecting what squares become what colors, doing so will create a computerized look
to the artwork and often give people the feeling that they are looking into a memorie of a past
video related experience.
